The UFF has commissioned a study of faculty numbers and salaries as compared with administrators’ numbers and salaries over the recent period. The study finds that “Student tuition and fees were being diverted away from the personnel who directly serve students through teaching, research and service activities and toward administrative overhead.” While the number of faculty increased by ½ of 1%, the number of administrators increased by 97.6% over a six year period. While total faculty salaries increased by 10.7%, total administrative salaries increased by 108.1%.

Presenters:

Dr. Bruce Nissen
Author of the study, from the Research Institute on Social and Economic Policy, and the Center for Labor Research and Studies, FIU
Dr. Lorna Veraldi
Chief Negotiator, FIU Chapter of the United Faculty of Florida
